Former Sunderland gem Jack Clarke has had a tough start to life away from Wearside.
The Black Cats have had a positive start to life under Regis Le Bris, and they will be hoping to build on that as they gear up to face an away trip to Hull City.
On the attacking front, Sunderland have been nothing short of brilliant, with Black Cats winger Romaine Mundle proving to be a key asset throughout the 2024/25 campaign, alongside the likes of Patrick Roberts and Wilson Isidor since his move.
It was crucial that Mundle stepped up this season, especially due to the departure of Jack Clarke to Premier League side Ipswich Town, and it has been proven that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side as the young English winger has been handed a poor verdict following his start to life in the top flight.

Ipswich Town fans react as Jack Clarke puts on ‘disappointing’ performance after leaving Sunderland
The Ipswich winger hasn’t quite managed to replicate his incredible abilities and goalscoring threat that he showed at Sunderland, and it has left many fans let down by him.
It is clear that Clarke hasn’t quite hit the ground running as many Ipswich fans held the same views on X, where one said that he was ‘yet to impress me at all, disappointing’, whilst another verdict suggested that he was ‘too lightweight and [his] decision making needs to improve’.
Clarke found himself with an opportunity to get a goal, which one fan suggested that he ‘should have scored’.
Comments fell under a similar fashion from others, with one writing that he ‘has not improved us’, whilst another suggested that his performance was ‘absolutely horrific’.

Sunderland got better end of the Jack Clarke deal
As the sale went ahead, there was plenty of talk over whether Sunderland could have and maybe should have received a slightly more significant fee for one of their most prized assets, however with the form and abilities shown by Mundle, it has meant that the Black Cats haven’t massively missed the attacker.
Mundle’s abilities have been a saving grace as there were plenty of worries over where the attacking threat for Le Bris’ side would come from, and there is no doubt that the Sunderland winger has successfully been able to quash this concern.
