Tommy Watson may not have expected to be involved in a brewing transfer story this month. But he is, and there’s a lot of interest in the Sunderland man.
Sunderland’s young winger Tommy Watson could be on the move before the end of the January transfer window.
Brighton are linked with Watson who also has interest from a number of other teams in the Premier League, including the likes of Everton, Crystal Palace, and even Spurs.
But it’s the Seagulls who are pushing the hardest to sign Watson right now. Recent reports revealed that Brighton have seen a bid rejected for the 18-year-old.

Brighton front-runners in race for Sunderland’s Tommy Watson
Posting on X, journalist James Copley has now revealed that Brighton are indeed the front-runners to sign Watson before the window shuts at 11pm on Monday, providing they match the club’s price tag.
Journalist Ed Aarons recently revealed that Sunderland value Watson at £8million, compared to the £2million that Brighton bid for Watson last summer.
Copley adds that Crystal Palace’s reported interest in Watson is longstanding and that the Eagles are yet to make a bid for the Black Cats academy gem.

Michael Graham’s worrying Tommy Watson prediction
If this emerging £8million price tag is anything to go by, then journalist Michael Graham thinks it could well be a price tag that Sunderland take for Watson.
He’s posted on X…
Watson is only under contract at the Stadium of Light until the summer of 2026. That means that he’ll be in the final year of his contract come the summer and at which point, Sunderland face a race against the clock to either sell him, or land him a new contract.
Losing Watson would certainly be a blow for Regis Le Bris who’s clearly fond of the left-sided attacker.
