Elliot Embleton has had horrific luck at Sunderland over the past two seasons with injuries.
The 25-year-old suffered an ankle ligament injury in the 2022/23 campaign which ended his season.
After nine months out, he then returned to the pitch and earned a loan move to Derby County to regain his form. However, after just two appearances, Embleton tore his quadriceps in training, ending another campaign early for the midfielder.
Now, he is looking to start a new chapter as Blackpool look set to sign Embleton off Sunderland to end his career at the Stadium of Light.
Sunderland will not receive an initial fee for Elliot Embleton

With the 25-year-old’s transfer now closing in, the details of his move are starting to come to light.
Embleton is now having a medical and is believed to be signing a two-year deal at Blackpool.
However, the fee the League One side would pay was unclear until now.
It was revealed by Michael Graham that Sunderland will not be receiving an initial fee for Embleton. Instead, the Black Cats have inserted a ‘chunky’ sell-on clause in hopes of making a big profit if the midfielder leaves his new club in the future.

Elliot Embleton’s transfer is wise from Sunderland

For many, it may be surprising that the Black Cats are demanding no initial fee for the midfielder. Yet, this is a wise move from Regis Le Bris.
Sunderland were always unlikely to demand a big fee for Embleton after his injury record over the past couple of seasons.
Embleton clearly has the ability to be a great footballer, which he showcased at the Black Cats for many years.
If he can recover fully from his injuries and return to that form at Blackpool, he may go for a big fee which would no doubt benefit Sunderland more.
