Everton boss David Moyes has been asked about recruiting players from the Championship amid interest in Sunderland’s Dan Neil.
This January, there will be plenty of emphasis on Sunderland looking to keep hold of their top talents in order to help maintain their current push for promotion.
Several Sunderland stars have already generated interest this window, including Jobe Bellingham attracting Champions League sides, whilst fellow midfielder Chris Rigg and Dan Ballard have also been on the radar of Premier League clubs.
Another Black Cats man that has generated interest from England’s top flight is Dan Neil, who is reportedly wanted by Premier League sides West Ham United and Everton.
David Moyes, new boss of Everton was asked about the Toffees’ general interest in players this January, with a potential deal for Neil being alluded to.

Everton boss David Moyes gives transfer insight as the Toffees show interest in Sunderland midfielder Dan Neil
Black Cats midfielder Neil endured a tough start to the 2024/25 campaign, but has since shone in his new defensive-midfield role.
As a result of his qualities shown in the heart of Regis Le Bris’ side, the Sunderland team captain has gained interest from Premier League side Everton.
Whilst not being directly questioned about interest in Neil, Everton boss Moyes spoke of his focus in targeting Championship talent.
Per Sunderland Echo, Moyes said: “We continue to look closer to home, which is the Championship. Last year, the Championship produced some incredible players like [Morgan] Rogers, [Adam] Wharton, [Jaden] Philogene possibly.
“The Championship is always a place we should be looking to see. With the position we’re in, we could do with a couple of seasoned players but if not, we need got get players in to help with the numbers etc.
“Most of the targets have already been in. I’ve come in and been able to throw my tuppence worth, see some things and look. But the people here are the ones who have been working on it for the last three or four months.”

Regis Le Bris should feel confident in keeping Dan Neil for key reason
Whilst there is no doubting that several of Le Bris’ top players are generating interest from the Premier League and abroad this January, the French boss can be in a comfortable position in keeping his talents.
The positive atmosphere in-and-around the club counts for a lot at this moment, and several players have already decided to stay on Wearside, such as Bellingham.
This will certainly play a key part in Neil’s decision over his future, who has this season achieved his goal of captaining his boyhood club in a brilliant season, and there is very little reason why he would want to relinquish that so abruptly.
