Sunderland’s most valuable player handed measly price tag, it would be an absolute bargain

Sunderland have a growing number of players with huge transfer values. But with that comes widespread transfer interest.

Even with the January transfer window still a month-and-a-half away, there’s rumours suggesting that Sunderland could lose one or two players.

It comes amid this fine start to the season for Regis Le Bris’ side who currently lead the Championship table on goal difference, following a disappointing 2-2 draw with Coventry City before the international break.

Right now, Chris Rigg is making transfer headlines. Sunderland star Rigg is wanted by Manchester United who could be active in January under new boss Ruben Amorim, with Real Madrid also interested.

There’s also Jobe Bellingham who’s attracting a lot of interest. Sunderland ace Bellingham shone for England U21s during this month’s break and reportedly has growing interest from Borussia Dortmund ahead of January.

But the price tag remains somewhat unknown, with reports mostly speculating. Now, Football Observatory has weighed in with their price tag.

Jobe Bellingham’s price tag at Sunderland revealed

Football Observatory have valued every club’s most expensive player, and their study outs Bellingham as the Black Cats’ current most expensive player.

But fans may strongly disagree with the price tag. Football Observatory believe that Bellingham is currently worth between €16-21million (£13.33-17.5million).

Sunderland signed Bellingham from Birmingham City during the summer transfer window of 2023, reportedly paying £3million for the now 19-year-old.

Last season, Bellingham scored seven in 45 Championship outings for the Black Cats, currently boasting two goals in 13 league games so far this season.

How much did Birmingham City sell Jude Bellingham for?

Slowly but surely, fans and pundits alike are starting to make the comparisons between Jude and Jobe Bellingham, suggesting that the latter does indeed have the potential to follow in Jude’s footsteps.

And moving to Borussia Dortmund from the Championship would certainly be the first step in doing so, with Jude having made the move from Birmingham City to Dortmund in 2020.

It was reported at the time that Dortmund paid £25million for Bellingham up front, with more likely added later via add-ons.

So for Jobe and Sunderland, they really ought to be aiming to break the £20million mark should he be sold.

Not only is he showing a lot of similarities to Jude, but the name alone may help to up the value as signing Jobe would unavoidably be a big boost publicity wise, given the family name.

So this latest value of as little as £13million would make for a bargain signing indeed. Though the Sunderland owners surely don’t settle for that amount, especially when they paid around £3million for him.
