Sunderland should go all out and try to bring Cameron Archer to the club on loan.
Sunderland massively exceeded expectations in their first season back in the Championship and a majority of their players enjoyed some of the best football of their career.
While there are very few negatives to take away from the campaign, there is no ignoring the fact that the Black Cats were in desperate need of more strikers and still are.

There is still plenty of time left in the summer transfer window, but it is concerning that the only forward they seemed to have been linked with so far is Ellis Simms.
While Sunderland will undoubtedly start Ross Stewart once he returns from injury, that shouldn’t stop the club from aiming high in bringing in another attacker.
Joe Gelhardt was arguably a very big loan signing for the Wearside outfit and they are at a level now where they can request this very exciting young players from the Premier League.
Cameron Archer would be a sensational signing for Sunderland
Cameron Archer has been on the books at Aston Villa since he was eight years old, but is yet to be given his big chance with the first team.
The striker first made his mark in the Championship with Preston North End in the second half of the 2021-22 campaign, where he netted seven goals and quickly became a fan favourite.
Unable to secure Archer for a second season, the 21-year-old made a handful of cameo appearances for Villa before he was shipped off to Middlesbrough in January.

It was Archer’s time at the Riverside Stadium that has made Sunderland’s potential move for him an ambitious one, as he arguably proved himself to be ready for a fight at the Premier League with his stellar performances.
The attacker bagged eleven goals and six assists in only 19 starts for Boro – an unbelievable return for the England U21 international.
Unsurprisingly, Aston Villa are now considering giving Archer a run in the first team, unless someone can fork out around £20 million for his permanent signing.
There is little reason for the Midlands outfit to loan Archer out again, however Sunderland should definitely be asking the question.
