Opinion: Four players Sunderland could get on-loan to replicate Amad impact

Sunderland find themselves in a tricky situation having lost arguably their star player, Amad Diallo, as he returns to Manchester United.

Sunderland are therefore on the hunt for a player who can come in and replicate the impact that Manchester United’s Ivorian did.

Given the huge faith they placed in Amad, many young Premier League stars might be tempted to head to the Stadium of Light.

This is exactly what Kristjaan Speakman is looking for following Amad’s incredible season. In relation to Amad’s season he said he hoped “that [it] will attract more players to want to come to Sunderland.”

So without sticking to players in the same position, here are four players Sunderland could loan, that could potentially have an ‘Amad impact’.

Potential loanees who could impact Sunderland

Shola Shoretire, Manchester United, 19

The thinking behind this suggestion is quite simple, one Old Trafford prospect for another. However it is more than that, Shola Shoretire is a wonderfully gifted technical player who could thrives under the correct set up.

Shoretire spent the second half of last season at Bolton Wanderers on loan, he scored his first ever senior goal for them as well as providing two assists. Not a bad return in just 16 games.

At only 19-years-old, Shoretire was born in the area too so it wouldn’t be a huge change for him.

Charlie Patino, Arsenal, 19

A player who could come to Sunderland and have a huge impact in midfield is Arsenal’s Charlie Patino. The England u20 player spent last season at Blackpool on loan and was really impressive.

Patino made 37 appearances for the north-west side and scored three goals along with four assists. An impressive tally for someone in his first senior season.

Patino has also made two appearances already for the Gunners, scoring once. Coincidentally that goal came against Sunderland in 2021, when Patino was just 18.

Cesare Casadei, Chelsea, 20

Chelsea’s young Italian midfielder Cesare Casadei is a superb football player. Signed last summer for £12.8million he is definitely one for the future, and for Sunderland he could be one for now.

Championship experience already in the form of a six month loan to Reading. Places him in good stead to be a great option to give Sunderland come Italian style in midfield.

Jobe Bellingham would thrive with this man next to him.

Anthony Elanga, Manchester United, 21

So this is the most unlikely of them all, but after a massively disappointing season; It could be beneficial for Anthony Elanga to come down a league and find himself.

Elanga has all the raw talent to be a serious player in the Championship and above. Extremely powerful and full of pace he combines his physical attributes with good dribbling and good finishing. He has a much better end product than he gets credit for.

Clearly the Swedish international isn’t in United’s plans, so it could be worth a shot offering him a chance to build himself up again.

Don’t forget this man scored against Atletico Madrid just over a year ago in the Champions League. However yet to prove himself fully at the top level, a loan to the Championship could be perfect.
