The Black Cats will need to hit a hot streak of form to get what they need in the next few weeks.
Sunderland this season have gone from strength to strength under Regis Le Bris, with the Black Cats maintaining their promotion push at this stage of the 2024/25 Championship season.
After a tough run of games, which has seen Sunderland face fellow promotion-chasers Sheffield United and Burnley, the Black Cats have shown that they compete with the sides around them in the table.
However, last time out they played out a disappointing 2-2 stalemate with the most out-of-form Championship side, Plymouth Argyle at the Stadium of Light.
Sunderland will need to bounce back immediately to keep themselves within the automatic promotion conversation, and the next run of games looks perfect for them to maintain their pressure on the top sides.

What are Sunderland’s next five fixtures?
Sunderland’s next game in the Championship will see them face Middlesbrough away from home, which will be followed up with a clash at the Stadium of Light against Watford.
After the Hornets, Sunderland will welcome a struggling Luton Town side to Wearside, who have won just one game on their travels so far in the 2024/25 Championship season, but then they will travel to Elland Road to face high-flying Leeds United, who have only lost on one occasion this season on home turf.
Their fifth game will see them host Hull City, who have been consistently inconsistent this season on the road, winning five and losing on seven occasions.

Regis Le Bris need to pick up minimum of 12 points in next five games
Looking at Sunderland’s next five games in the Championship, the Black Cats should be picking up at least three or even four wins in order to put pressure on the likes of Leeds United, Sheffield United and Burnley.
It will be a real sign of intent from Le Bris’ side to bounce back from the Plymouth Argyle draw by winning their three winnable home games, as well as see off Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.
The clash with Leeds United will certainly be a challenge for Le Bris’ side but could be a significant indicator as to whether Sunderland can squeeze the gap with the leading Championship side.
Consistency will be key for Sunderland, who can’t have a repeat of the Plymouth Argyle draw in upcoming weeks, and it will truly tell just what Le Bris’ side are made of in the upcoming matches.
