Sunderland have completed the free transfer signing of Bradley Dack.

The Black Cats confirmed yesterday that the midfielder reunites with Bradley Dack on a one-year deal with an option of a further year.

News of Dack’s arrival has left a number of supporters frustrated. It is either young and exciting or nothing at all for some.

There are some understandable concerns about Dack, with his injury problems raising a major question mark over a potential move to Sunderland.

The former Blackburn Rovers star has missed around two whole years through two separate cruciate ligament injuries since 2019 and has been unable to kick on after an excellent start to his career at Ewood Park.

Dack joined Rovers in 2017 and claimed a hugely impressive 33 goals and 15 assists in his first two seasons, being named the League One Player of the year and Rovers’ Player of the Season in his debut campaign.

Dack enjoyed his greatest success under Mowbray, who signed the midfielder and guided him to the peak of his career at Ewood Park.

The midfielder is now fully fit and ready to have another crack at Championship football, which he has shown he is very capable of doing prior to his horrific injury luck.

Bradley Dack is an Alex Pritchard type signing for Sunderland

The fans who are critical of Dack’s arrival at Sunderland are probably the same ones who were fuming when we signed injury-prone Alex Pritchard, who hadn’t scored a senior goal in over two years at the time.

Pritchard went onto prove everyone wrong with his stellar performances in League One, grabbing four goals and nine assists as we won promotion.

The 30-year-old even bagged four goals and seven assists this season, despite not playing as much of a role following the jump up to the Championship.

Dack still has a good few years in him and he could well shut some people up if he can rediscover his form on Wearside, while it seems like a pretty risk free move after joining on a free transfer.

The Black Cats are currently overloaded with young, inexperienced players and Dack’s arrival should certainly bring some leadership to a youthful squad.
