Regis Le Bris must be aware of one promise given to Enzo Le Fee that wasn’t kept by Roma.
The Black Cats have completed the massive signing of Enzo Le Fee in a loan move from Roma, with him joining up with Regis Le Bris’ squad up until the end of the 2024/25 Championship campaign.
The Sunderland signing has been rightly regarded as quite a coup as it involves a mandatory buy clause that will be triggered if the Black Cats achieve promotion to the Premier League this season.
With the midfielder arriving with such pedigree, as well as a proven quality when playing under Le Bris, as he did in the 2022/23 season for FC Lorient, there is no doubt that he will command a key role in the side.
However, this will leave Le Bris with a difficult decision to make in regard to his squad selection, and it is one that could potentially spark an issue that unsettled Le Fee at Roma.

Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris must prioritise Enzo Le Fee game time after broken Roma promise
French midfielder Le Fee joined Roma this summer from French side Stade Rennais, arriving in Daniele De Rossi’s side with plenty of promise.
Unfortunately, the 24-year-old has struggled to cement his place in the team and has only been utilised on six occasions in Serie A, whilst also notching three appearances in the Europa League.
It simply hasn’t panned out at all like Le Fee would have expected after his move from France, and his optimism and ambition to play the club has certainly disappeared when looking at his comments when he first joined.
Per Tribal Football, Le Fee said: “The most important thing for me was the dialogue with the coach [De Rossi] because you can have a thousand speeches, but the most important words are those of the coach.
“He is the one who makes me play and makes me grow and he is the one who builds the team together with Ghisolfi and this is important. It was a simple conversation, it is an environment in which I can continue to grow. As I said, talking to De Rossi convinced me to come here.
“I came here to continue improving. I have goals in mind, I can’t wait to play the most important matches. This is the perfect project to do it, I will improve in all aspects, I need to know this championship better.”

Regis Le Bris will face difficult selection process after Enzo Le Fee arrival
Following the signing of Le Fee, Sunderland are more than content in regards to squad depth in the centre of the park, and that will bring about huge challenges for Le Bris.
Le Fee’s arrival has come about at the same time as Salis Abdul Samed’s return from injury, with the latter feeling like a new signing, and it will be difficult for the Sunderland boss to keep all players happy in regards to game-time.
As shown by Le Fee’s comments whilst at Roma, he was keen to be utilised as much as possible, but that clearly hasn’t happened.
He will be under the idea that his name will be first on the teamsheet for Sunderland, and as a result, Le Bris will certainly find it difficult to choose a name from his already brilliant midfield to drop to the bench in place of the Frenchman.
