Sunderland have a star in the making; Chris Rigg.
Chris Rigg has become one of the main men at Sunderland following a string of impressive performances in the Championship.
The 17-year-old signed a new Sunderland contract in the summer, committing his future at the club until 2027.
He’s since started the last four league games under Regis Le Bris and has been a key player too.
During the 3-2 defeat vs Plymouth Argyle, Rigg managed to shine in what was an otherwise mixed team performance from the Black Cats.
Real Madrid are showing an interest in Rigg after his impressive start to the 2024/25 season, along with Borussia Dortmund.
There’s also reports that Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City have been scouting Rigg ahead of a possible transfer swoop later down the line.
Rigg had transfer interest last summer before he signed his first professional contract at the Stadium of Light, with Newcastle United among the teams who looked into a potential deal.

Graeme Bailey verdict on Chris Rigg at Sunderland
Speaking to Sunderland AFC News, transfer expert Graeme Bailey has given his verdict on Rigg’s future.
Bailey said: “The interest in Rigg is not new, especially from the English side of things, we know he could have left Sunderland in the summer with Newcastle and Manchester United amongst those pushing.
“He would have had his pick of Premier League clubs had he made the decision.
“But now the interest from abroad is becoming more intense, and one of those at the head of the chase is Borussia Dortmund – a club who can offer an interesting route for any young English player following Jude Bellingham’s success with them.”

Like Bailey says, Jude Bellingham has laid out a definite career path for youngsters like Rigg; who are still very fresh in the game and impressing at Championship level.
Bellingham left Birmingham City for Borussia Dortmund in 2020 and later sealed his big money move to Madrid.
That route might also interest Rigg who’s certainly showcasing a lot of similar potential that Bellingham showed at his age in the Championship.
Right now though, Rigg will simply be focused on playing football and improving his game.
The Sunderland owners though will certainly have a thought towards the future, with Rigg bound to net the club a huge profit in the transfer market one day.
