Matty Young is being tipped to play for England after making his Sunderland debut during pre-season.
According to i, the Black Cats have high hopes for the goalkeeper and are expecting him to follow in Jordan Pickford’s footsteps.
Matty Young put committed his future to Sunderland this summer as he signed his first scholarship deal with the club. It wasn’t long before the 16-year-old was joining the senior team for their pre-season tour of the US following Alex Bass’ loan move to AFC Wimbledon.

Young joined Anthony Patterson on their trip to America, with Adam Richardson also out of action due to injury.
The ‘amazing’ 16-year-old made his first appearance in Sunderland’s 3-2 win over New Mexico and made a great impression on the first team squad, though he has since returned to the U18 side.
Young is seen as one of Sunderland’s most exciting prospects and is already attracting interest from Manchester United and Man City, only months after he signed his new deal on Wearside.
The report claims that Young is on the FA’s radar and is expected to be called up to one of the England youth squads, while he could potentially play alongside another young prospect in Chris Rigg.
Matty Young – another brilliant Sunderland ‘keeper
Sunderland already lost 15-year-old ‘keeper Toby Bell to Chelsea in the summer and will be desperate to keep hold of Matty Young.
The Championship outfit seem to produce some extremely talented goalkeepers, with Patterson another that has really impressed since earning his spot in between the sticks.

Reports last season claimed that Leicester City were considering a move for the 23-year-old, who went onto put pen to paper on a new deal in June.
Pickford is certainly the most successful, with Young most likely hoping he can end up in his shoes with the England national team.
