Manchester City are interested in signing Matty Young.
That’s according to The Sun, who have reported that the Premier League champions could look to lure the goalkeeper away from Wearside.
Young joined Sunderland when he was seven years old and has already become a regular for the U-21 side, while he made his senior debut during pre-season.

Sunderland’s ‘goalkeeping guru’ Mark Prudhoe is well known for identifying exciting talent and has already brought through both Jordan Pickford and Anthony Patterson to the club, with the latter just signing a new deal with the Black Cats.
Young has also recently put pen to paper on a new contract with his boyhood club, however the report claims Sunderland could still look to cash in on him if Man City come calling.
Pep Guardiola’s side have turned their attention to Young after missing out on another Sunderland academy product in Tony Bell, who left the North East to join Chelsea in the summer.
Young recently changed representation and could now consider a move to Manchester, while he is likely to recognise how many huge talents the club have brought through their own academy.

Goalkeepers such as Kasper Schmeichel and Wayne Hennessey have previously stepped foot in City’s academy, while more recently they have developed the likes of James Trafford, Angus Gunn and Gavin Bazunu.
Sunderland have a history of offloading huge prospects for pennies, however they seem to have brought an end to that trend with the departure of Stewart Donald.
With Bell already moving to Stamford Bridge, the Black Cats will be eager to keep hold of Young. Though there is very little they can do if the teenager wants to join arguably the best club in the world.
