Edouard Michut has been told that he can leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

The midfielder is surplus to requirements at the Parc des Princes and is one of a number of young players who are no longer part of PSG’s plans, according to Fichajes.

Michut joined Sunderland on loan with an option to buy last season and really impressed during his first real chance at senior football.

The Frenchman made 25 appearances in the second tier and was expected to make his stay on Wearside permanent, however it was confirmed at the end of the campaign that he would return to Paris.

Following the confirmation of his exit, Michut told a French media outlet: ““It took a bit of time to start for me to play games, especially because of some physical glitches as well as the adaptation to a new football. But I think I made the right choice by going to play for Sunderland.

“The club offered me the opportunity to stay. It was my decision to leave Sunderland. We didn’t agree on certain contractual points. There were also a few things in the style of play that didn’t suit me.”

Despite choosing to return to PSG, the 20-year-old has now been left out of their pre-season tour of Japan and looks set to be sold this summer.

Edouard Michut would have been a great signing for Sunderland

Despite a very slow start, Edouard Michut looked to be the real deal once he got going for Sunderland.

The midfielder was forced to sell for a place on the bench in the latter stages of the campaign, but that was just because of the brilliant form elsewhere.

The Black Cats were eager to snap him up on a permanent deal, but it was a real disappointment when he chose to leave – especially when it always seemed obvious that he wasn’t going to get any game time at PSG.

The likes of Fulham and Newcastle United had been linked with Michut during his time in England and his potential exit may put some clubs on high alert, however it seems Sunderland are very unlikely to bring him back considering his dislike for Tony Mowbray’s style of play.
