Sunderland were disappointing in their game against Bristol City on Tuesday night, escaping with a point thanks to Patrick Roberts’ late equaliser.
Sunderland looked destined to suffer another defeat in the Championship on Tuesday night, when they welcomed Bristol City to the Stadium of Light.
Nahki Wells scored for the Robins on 62 minutes and the Black Cats wouldn’t reply until the 93rd minute, with Patrick Roberts scoring just his second of the season.
The Sunderland player ratings against Bristol City offered up some mixed individual performances on the night, in what was an overall very flat performance.
But Adil Aouchiche managed to impress coming off the bench.

Adil Aouchiche was Sunderland’s ‘best player’ vs Bristol City
Aouchiche, 22, made just his third substitute appearance of the season on Tuesday night, also grabbing the assist for Roberts’ late goal.
Sunderland fans had plenty to say about the out of favour Frenchman as well, labelling him as ‘the difference maker’ against Bristol City, ‘one of the best and most creative players in the league’, and ‘our best player tonight’.
And after that Bristol City game, Sunderland fans now want to see more of Aouchiche.
One fan posted: “Aouchiche should start more often don’t know why he hasn’t played,” as another added: “The Aouchiche cameo was class, he’s always been good enough to be a valuable squad player.”
Lastly, one Sunderland supporter said of Aouchiche: “Aouchiche needs to be in the conversation for staying, the lads has plenty of quality, he’s seemingly getting more involved, makes a difference off the bench, undeniable quality there.”

Adil Aouchiche facing uncertain future at Sunderland
During the summer, it was reported that Aouchiche was unhappy at Sunderland and wanted to leave the club, following his reunion with Regis Le Bris who he worked under at Lorient previously.
And since, Le Bris has said that Aouchiche has to prove himself at Sunderland, given his lack of game time and the sheer quality of midfielders at the club.
But Aouchiche showed his class against Bristol City. He’s got bags of technical ability and during this congested period in the Championship, he could become a really useful player for the Black Cats.
