Jobe Bellingham reacts to Chris Rigg’s first goal as England U17s captain

Jobe Bellingham has sent a one-word message to Chris Rigg following his first goal for England U17s.

Rigg took to his Instagram account to share various photos of the Young Lions’ 4-1 win over Spain on Tuesday, including some of him bagging a goal as he captained the side to victory. The caption read: ‘Goal and a win to end the international break’.

The midfielder was handed the captain’s armband and went onto shine at at the Pinatar Arena, doubling England’s lead when he nodded in a cross from close range.

Rigg had only made a handful of appearances for the U17 side after making his debut at only 15 years old. The teenager had previously played for the U15s and U16s and will be hoping to make another step up as he continues to impress under Greg Lincoln.

Jobe was quick to react to Rigg’s goal after he posted on Instagram, with his Sunderland teammate commenting: ‘Riggy’ with two love heart eye emojis.

Rigg and Jobe are set to shine this season

The 17-year-old joined Rigg at Sunderland this summer and the pair have become two of the club’s youngest stars this season, with Jobe being named August Player of the Month for his stellar displays.

The former Birmingham City man has also been away on international duty, making his debut for England U19s in a 1-0 defeat to Germany last week before earning his second cap from the bench three days later.

Jobe has already been pictured back in training on Wearside ahead of Sunderland’s trip to QPR, while Rigg will also be hoping to feature for the senior team. The youngster’s cameo against Southampton was his first appearance in the Championship this season after being injured last month.
