Ipswich Town fans continue to be unhappy with the form of former Sunderland star Jack Clarke.

Back in the summer, following Regis Le Bris’ arrival at Sunderland, it was confirmed that Jack Clarke was to move onto Premier League side Ipswich Town.

After an eight-figure fee was commanded for the winger, it was expected that he would be able to build on his successful Sunderland spell, but that certainly hasn’t been the case.

The former Sunderland ace has been in-and-out of the Ipswich Town lineup, and when utilised, his confidence has looked shot.

Recently, he once again notched an appearance in the 6-0 home thrashing against Man City, where he put on another performance that fans took a disliking to.

Ipswich Town fans react to former Sunderland star Jack Clarke performance as woes continue

One of the varying factors to why life in Suffolk hasn’t worked out for Clarke ever since his summer move is the way that he is being utilised by Ipswich Town Kieran McKenna.

Clarke’s ability would shine through when utilised to his advantages at Sunderland, but that simply hasn’t been the case in the Premier League.

Ipswich Town fans took to X to react to Clarke’s performance in the 6-0 drabbing, to which they singled him out as a player whose ‘confidence is absolutely shot to pieces’.

Another fan suggested that ‘I Think we’ve seen enough of Clarke now haven’t we. Get him out on loan. He’s not ready’, and that was followed up by another Ipswich support in agreement, who said that it was ‘just not happening at the moment’ for him.

His abilities at Sunderland were clear, and some Ipswich fans have recognised this as well, with one believing that he ‘can see he’s got ability but it’s just not worked out. Shame’. His argument was supported by a fellow fan, who said: “Such a good player but we are trying to play him differently to where he is top class. Need to be played to his speciality.”

What exactly has gone wrong for Jack Clarke at Ipswich Town

There was plenty of promise surrounding Clarke when he made his Premier League move, and much of that came from the heaps of praise laid upon him by Sunderland supporters.

However, with it being abruptly clear that it hasn’t worked out under McKenna at Ipswich Town, it is clear that the system simply doesn’t suit his style of play.

Clarke, in Ipswich’s current set-up, doesn’t quite have the freedom he needs to burst forward and make a difference in the final third, with there being extra emphasis on his defensive capabilities for a relegation-threatened side.
Per SofaScore, Clarke only managed a total of 23 touches, and had one dribble attempt. It is clear that in such a game he can’t show his class as he, and Ipswich Town were massively outdone by Man City.
