‘Great mentality’ – Tony Mowbray praises youngster’s impact

Sunderland manager, Tony Mowbray has praised Jobe Bellingham for his professionalism and maturity given his age.

The 18-year-old signed for the Black Cats from Birmingham City over the summer and has been successful so far.

A fee in the region of £2 million was paid for the teenager, a deal which is already looking like great business.

Obviously, everybody knows Jude, but with Jobe on his back, Bellingham is creating his own legacy with Sunderland.

What has Tony Mowbray said about Jobe Bellingham?

Mowbray has been full of praise for the youngster since signing. Potentially surprised by how good he is already it seems.

His young age doesn’t seem to affect him: “He is very mature for his age. He acts like a seasoned pro, and demands standards even in small-sided games he wants to win.”

The Englishman is very demanding of himself and his teammates which you can see on the pitch.

Mowbray sees this regularly: “You can see he has a very focused driven thought pattern on where he is going and how he is going to get there. And that is to try to be excellent in everything you do.”

This should really help the club moving forward with these youngsters.

The Black Cats boss agrees: “It’s a great mentality. It helps our team to have someone so young.”

What is Jobe Bellingham good at?

He loves to get on the ball and drive forward, which is an ability that has a positive impact on the team around him.

His passing is concise and it allows for passing and moving to flow better, he makes the team tick.

With the versatility to play as an 8, 10 or even as a second striker when needed, he is a top asset to have at the Stadium of Light.

At 18-years old, he is completely fearless when it comes to taking a risk. Whether that be a shot or a forward run he is unpredictable, in the best possible way.

For such a low fee, this signing may prove to be a stroke of genius by Mowbray and Co.
