Jobe Bellingham’s shirt name

Jobe has went against his older brothers decision in choosing the name on the back of his shirt. Where Jude has ‘Bellingham’ Jobe has simply opted for ‘Jobe’ alongside his number seven.

Tony Mowbray has shed some light onto the decisions which have led Jobe to this decision.

“I think he’s trying to create his own identity,” he said. “He doesn’t want to live off the back of his brother’s name; he wants to be the footballer that he is and show people what he can do.”

He has made a good start in establishing himself as a footballer away from his brother this season for Sunderland.

Positive start to the season

Jobe made the headlines a few weeks back as he bagged a brace against Rotherham which was his first goals in professional football.

He has been praised for his love of football and his mentality which Mowbray sees him using to grow massively.

“He’s an absolute diamond,” the Sunderland manager added: “He just loves football and wants to get better. He tests the coaches every day. He’s got a real growth mindset.

“At 17, it’s unbelievable. Where he can be in five years’ time, I’m not sure, but I’m really pleased with him. His greatest asset is that he wants to learn.”
