Sunderland U21s boss Graeme Murty has recently been linked with the Hartlepool United job.
Graeme Murty is a coach held in high regards at Sunderland, having done a lot of good work with the club’s U21s side he arrived in 2022.
The former Reading stalwart has helped oversee the development of some exciting players, including the likes of Chris Rigg and Tommy Watson.
Recently, it was suggested on social media that Hartlepool United were taking an interest in Murty, having sacked Darren Sarll after just 15 games in charge.
Hartlepool United are struggling in the National League, currently sitting in 16th place of the table after the opening 13 games.
In April, Hartlepool United sacked Sunderland legend Kevin Phillips. With regards to Murty, though, James Copley played down the chances of Murty leaving Sunderland.

Graeme Murty to Hartlepool United latest
Now, BBC reporter Rob Law has shared an update on the chances of Murty leaving the Stadium of Light to take the Hartlepool United job.
Law states that Murty ‘has a desire’ to return to first-team management and that he ‘would be interested’ in the Pools job.
However, Law adds that Murty is ‘just one name under consideration’ as things stand.
Graeme Murty’s managerial record
Murty made just shy of 500 career appearances as a player, with the majority of them being in a Reading shirt.
As a manager, four-cap former Scotland international Murty’s sole position was with Rangers, following a spell as caretaker manager with the Ibrox club.
Murty was the permanent Rangers manager between October 2017 and April 2018, winning 18 of his 29 games in charge.
He was eventually removed from the position before returning to his previous role as manager of the club’s U20s.
Murty has earned plaudits at Sunderland since taking charge of the club’s U21s, playing a particularly positive role in producing some top players.

Which Sunderland players has Graeme Murty worked with?
Sunderland’s academy has produced some quality first-team players in recent years, including the likes of Anthony Patterson and Dan Neil.
Rigg is obviously the standout name to have come through the ranks under Murty’s watch, with Watson looking like the next name to make his mark.
But Murty’s role also helps first-team players like Aaron Connolly get back on their feet, with the injured likes of Aji Alese, Niall Huggins, and Jenson Seelt no doubt set to play for the U21s before returning to first-team action.
