Jordan Henderson has broken his silence on his future with Ajax, amid ongoing links to Sunderland.
It’s recently been claimed that Jordan Henderson could return to England during the January transfer window.
And it’s also claimed that Sunderland have an interest in re-signing their former academy graduate, 13 years since he left the club for Liverpool in 2011.
Since leaving the Stadium of Light, Henderson racked up almost 500 career appearances for Liverpool, winning both the Premier League and the Champions League as captain.
Last year, he made the shock decision to leave Anfield to join up with Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia.
Henderson lasted just six months before returning to Europe with Ajax, where reports now claim he faces an uncertain future.
Speaking to Sunderland AFC News recently, football finance expert Adam Williams revealed that speculation surrounding Henderson’s tax issues would not prevent him from returning to the UK in January.

Jordan Henderson speaks out on Ajax future amid Sunderland links
Speaking to Ajax Life, Henderson has now discussed his situation with the club.
Although he didn’t directly address rumours linking him with a move away from the Netherlands, Henderson has suggested that he could see out the rest of his career in the Eredivisie.
Henderson has also claimed that he may look to move into coaching when he retires from playing.
The 34-year-old said with regards to coaching: “I am thinking about it, but I haven’t decided yet. I am focusing on the last years of my career first.
“When my contract here expires, I will be 36 years old. Then I will see how I am physically and what Ajax wants. I may end my career here. It could very well be.”
Henderson earns £74,000-a-week at Ajax, where his current deal runs until the summer of 2026.
What are Sunderland’s plans for the January transfer window
Henderson’s comments certainly seem to suggest that he’s unsure about what the future might hold for him, but that he’s happy to stay with Ajax for the foreseeable.
Sunderland under Regis Le Bris meanwhile look to be in store for a busy January window, with Le Bris wanting to be backed during the New Year so that he can continue his promotion push.
And that might mean that Sunderland could push the boat out and make an attempt to sign Henderson, likely on loan, and bring him in for the second half of the season.
Henderson also mentioned in the same interview above that his family are in England and that he doesn’t seem them often, so he could be tempted to return to the UK.
