Sunderland have recently rejected a seven-figure transfer offer for one of their star players.
Sunderland have no shortage of transfer interest in their young stars, with several wanted by some of Europe’s top clubs.
Jack Clarke is the one who most expect to leave the Stadium of Light this summer, with Crystal Palace holding a long-term interest in the former Spurs man.
Elsewhere, Anthony Patterson has interest from Wolves and Jobe Bellingham has links to Crystal Palace and Lazio among other teams.
It could be a very testing summer transfer window for Sunderland and sporting director Kristjaan Speakman, who’ll be eager to ensure that the club gets proper value for their players, and also that Regis Le Bris has enough quality left over to challenge for promotion next season.
But it may be logical for Sunderland to cash in on one or two players this summer, and potentially reinvest the cash.
One offer has recently come in for Trai Hume from Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Galatasaray told to ‘double’ offer for Sunderland star Trai Hume after £7m bid rejected
Galatasaray have seen a £7millon bid rejected for Hume, who has also been linked with the likes of Aston Villa and Napoli this summer.
It comes after another standout season for the Northern Ireland international who featured in all 46 of Sunderland’s Championship games last season, scoring one and assisting one.
Last season, Hume attempted the most tackles of any player in the Championship, also completing the most tackles of any player.
Following news of Galatasaray’s rejected bid, journalist James Copley has suggested that the Turkish club need to at least double their offer.
Copley posted on X:
The key dilemma for Kristjaan Speakman at Sunderland this summer
Speakman certainly has a lot on his plate this summer, with the cub’s possible signings just as important, if not more important, than who they decide to let go.
With regards to Hume, there may be more focus placed on keeping him at the club as right-backs are relatively thin on the ground at Sunderland right now, with Timothee Pembele the only fit alternative to Hume.
Whereas there’s more depth in Clarke’s position, and someone like Patterson may be easier to replace with good goalkeepers in quite high supply in English football right now.
Like Copley says, though, if any team is serious about signing Hume this summer, they need to be serious with their offers, as £7million for a young player who dominated tackling stats in the Championship last season isn’t nearly enough.
