Former Sunderland star has once again been thriving under new boss Ruben Amorim at Man Utd.
The Black Cats came close to promotion in the 2022/23 Championship campaign, with Manchester United loanee Amad Diallo playing a pivotal role in the season, which ended with a semi-final loss to Luton Town across two legs for Sunderland.
Following the fate of having to stay in the Championship, it was clear that they would be unable to capture another loan season for Diallo in Wearside, and two years later, he has found himself to be a pivotal player at Manchester United, playing in a wing-back role under former Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim.
Man United fans have been ecstatic at the prospect of the Ivorian winger playing in this slightly deeper role, however, their recent 2-1 win against Viktoria Plzen saw him surprisingly utilised elsewhere.

Man Utd fans react to former Sunderland ace Amad Diallo’s recent showing
Once again, Diallo played a pivotal role in Man Utd’s recent win, but this time he was actually used as one of the two No10s in a 3-4-2-1 formation.
Despite the altered position, United fans still heaped praise on the former Sunderland man, as per X, one suggested that he was the ‘most consistent’ Red Devils player this season, whilst another suggested that ‘Amad keeping this once great football club alive on his own’.
Statman Dave, via X, also gave insight on his numbers in the game, which included 62 touches, 100% tackles won and 16 final third passes, to which helped him come to the conclusion that he is ‘absolutely cooking under Ruben Amorim’.
Sunderland deserve credit in brilliant development of Amad Diallo
It is brilliant to see that Diallo has finally shown his brilliant powers at a top level, however it doesn’t come as a surprise to Black Cats fans that he has bags of talent.
After a sticky loan spell in Scotland with Rangers, it would be fair to suggest that Sunderland were instrumental in getting Diallo’s career back on track with an emphatic Championship loan spell, and without that confidence booster, it wouldn’t be expected that he would be delivering these top performances two years later.
