One Regis Le Bris decision vs Swansea City received stick from fans, but it paid dividends in the end.

Sunderland managed to turn around a two-goal deficit as they saw off Swansea City in fabulous style in a 3-2 win.

The victory on the road saw Dan Neil shine in-the centre-of-the-park, bagging a fantastic goal whilst also putting in yet another captain’s performance, whilst Jobe Bellingham also made the difference with the winning goal.

The goals for Sunderland came thick and fast following one key decision made by French boss Regis Le Bris, and it was one that was initially met with plenty of hostility, right up until it paid dividends.

Key Regis Le Bris decision paid off despite unrest from Sunderland fans

Sunderland boss Le Bris is clearly not afraid to roll the dice when his side aren’t quite performing at their best, and that was the case against Swansea City.

With his side being 2-1 down away from home, Le Bris decided to change things up with the change of Luke O’Nien entering the fray in place of Dennis Cirkin, who was brought in following his recent return from injury.

The announcement, per X, of the decision made by Le Bris was met with hostility to say the least, with one suggesting ‘what’s the point in that’, whilst another claimed that it was an ‘appalling’ decision made by the French boss.

Since O’Nien’s introduction, Sunderland went on to bag two goals and pick up all three points away at Swansea City.

Regis Le Bris has proved doubters wrong with key substitution change

Whilst many Sunderland fans are on the same page that Le Bris has fully turned this Black Cats side around, there are still some doubts over his decision making, particularly in regards to substitutions and the time of the game where he decides to make changes.

There have been occasions where Le Bris has been slightly late in making the decisions, there is no doubt that he got this one absolutely spot on.

Whilst O’Nien didn’t directly provide a goal or an assist, the momentum ultimately shifted with his arrival on the pitch, and his presence in the side certainly can’t be discredited after playing such a role in galvanising the squad to eventually come away with a win in South Wales.
