Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris has been handed praise for his ability to turn around the form of one player.

The Black Cats came away with a point on their travels as they drew with Blackburn Rovers 2-2.

Whilst once again Sunderland found themselves down 1-0 at half-time against a very solid Blackburn Rovers outfit, two quick-fire goals by 17-year-old Chris Rigg and French forward Wilson Isidor helped the Black Cats closer to all three points, however, Rovers netted in the final minute to level the scores.

For Isidor, it was his fifth goal of the 2024/25 Championship campaign, but his first in his last eight outings with Regis Le Bris’ side, as he was cutting about as a forward with very little confidence prior to his audacious finish that helped Sunderland towards a solid point on the road.

It has been a difficult period of time for Isidor, and plenty of credit for his turnaround in form against Blackburn has to come down to the man-management of Le Bris, according to journalist Michael Graham.

Michael Graham praises Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris ability to handle Wilson Isidor rough patch

Following recent injuries to the frontline, Isidor has been unable to feed off the likes of Romaine Mundle and Tommy Watson from the left flank, something that at times has left him somewhat isolated up top. The Norwich win in particular showed him to be utilised very little by his teammates.

However, the Blackburn Rovers draw was a window back into just what Isidor can offer, and it is crucial that Le Bris has been able to instill the very best of the Frenchman back into the side.

Graham, per X, has also handed the 49-year-old Black Cats boss for his handling of the striker, to which he said: “Got to give Reggie a lot of credit for his handling of Isidor during the last couple months. Clearly kept his confidence up.”

Wilson Isidor stats vs Blackburn Rovers show where he thrived but also where to improve

There is no doubt that Sunderland ace Isidor has the abilities and the potential to go far in his career, to the point of being a leading Championship striker.

His athleticism and eye for goal already sets him apart from many, and it’s clear to see where he thrived when looking at his stats.

Per SofaScore, Isidor managed to get 66% shots on target, bagging one, and did well in regards to creativity as well, notching an 89% passing accuracy, whilst also making one key pass.

However, it is clear where the Frenchman could improve his game in order to stride towards the top level. His physical nature often sees him struggle somewhat against the more physically-dominating centre-backs, as seen by him losing all eight ground and aerial duels during the game, whilst also losing possession six times.

If Isidor is able to iron out the cracks in his game, with the help of Le Bris, he will not only be a top player for the Black Cats, but one that can deliver on a consistent basis.
