The Black Cats are on a roll, and you can watch Sunderland vs Preston North End to see if Regis Le Bris can mastermind a third-successive win.

After tight wins over Sheffield Wednesday and then Cardiff City this weekend, Sunderland are back on track. There’s even a glimmer of hope that they could sneak into the top two, though a very faint one.

Beating Preston in the next game would go a long way to keeping those hopes alive. Regis Le Bris will have to prove Paul Heckingbottom wrong, then, but the odds are firmly stacked in Sunderland’s favour for this game.

Here, we look ahead to the big game, including details of how to watch Sunderland vs Preston, who will be in the team, and what history tells us about this fixture.

Sunderland team and injury news

Sunderland will be without a few players for this game. The latest name to be added to the injury list is Patrick Roberts, who suffered a setback against Cardiff and had to come off after 25 minutes.

We know Enzo Le Fee is out for another four weeks, roughly, while Dan Ballard is a couple of weeks behind the Frenchman in his recovery.

Jayden Danns is due back in April and could feature in the play-offs, but we’ll still be waiting a while for his Black Cats’ debut.

Meanwhile, it is thought Ian Poveda faces another three weeks on the sidelines, and Salis Abdul Samed might be joining him for a similar period.

Sunderland vs Preston head-to-head record

This fixture has been a popular one through the years, with 126 meetings between the two teams. Sunderland have the edge, with 55 wins to Preston’s 36, and there has been a further 35 draws to share the spoils.

However, the past 12 instances of this fixture have not been too kind to Sunderland. Preston have actually won seven of those games, with three draws, and just one Black Cats win.

Sunderland vs Preston predictions

With home advantage and momentum on their side, we find it hard to look past a Sunderland win here. The Black Cats are full of confidence after those last two wins, and they’ll be desperate to keep that up.

Put us down for a 2-1 win to Sunderland, as they continue this trend of narrowly beating teams that they probably should be far more comfortable against. But, at this stage of the season, we’re sure they’ll take any three points they can get.
