Harvey Vale is a professional footballer for Premier League club Chelsea who has been linked with a January move to Sunderland.

Black Cats sporting director Kristjaan Speakman has at least five attackers on his radar ahead of the Winter transfer window – and the Englishman is said to be one of them.

Despite two recent appearances in the UEFA Conference League, including 45 minutes versus Shamrock Rovers, Vale is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

Now, Sunderland are one of a few clubs keeping tabs on the Chelsea man as he is expected to leave next month.

With a potential move to the Stadium of Light on the horizon, Sunderland AFC News tells you everything you need to know about him below.

Harvey Vale age

Harvey James Vale was born in Haywards Heath, England on 11 September 2003. He joined Fulham in 2010 before leaving for Chelsea in 2016.

Harvey Vale position

Vale is so versatile that his best position remains up for debate. He often played left-back in his academy days and on loan at Bristol Rovers last season.

However, the left-footed Englishman is an attack-minded player who would rather play behind the striker, either out wide or centrally.

Career

Harvey Vale stats

Vale’s only full season in senior football came with the aforementioned loan move to Bristol Rovers in 2023/24. The 21-year-old provided two goals and five assists in 39 League One appearances.

In 10 games for Chelsea’s under-21 side in the 2024/25 campaign, Vale has displayed his attacking prowess with five goals and five assists.

Harvey Vale transfer value

Vale has a transfer value of £1.24 million, according to Transfermarkt. By comparison, Romaine Mundle’s value is currently £1.66m, while Jobe Belingham’s is £9.95m.

One reason for Vale’s low value is that his contract is due to expire in the summer. So, Chelsea are likely to accept a minimal fee to avoid losing him for nothing.

Harvey Vale salary

Salary Sport claims that Vale’s weekly wage at Stamford Bridge is £26,000. This is 8,000 more than Sunderland’s current highest earner: Alan Browne (18,000).

Vale would surely have to take a pay cut to join the Black Cats in January, perhaps giving an advantage to other interested clubs like Anderlecht.

Harvey Vale EA Sports FC 25 rating

Vale is a left midfielder on EA Sports FC 25 with a current rating of 65 and a potential rating of 79. His best attributes include acceleration (75), sprint speed (75) and balance (73).

The Chelsea man has the same rating as Eliezer Mayenda, Leo Hjelde and Simon Moore in the Sunderland squad.
