Amad Diallo at long last has returned to training for Manchester United as Sunderland looks to attempt a January move for the forward.

After such an incredible loan spell last season, many around Sunderland had hopes of keeping Amad Diallo. However, after a playoff loss, it became evident he was set for a return to Old Trafford instead.

But it hasn’t gone to plan since then, as Amad picked up an injury during United’s pre-season tour of America. He has been injured since, but a return to action is expected to be imminent.

Now, it seems he is closer than ever to a return if his latest social media message is anything to go by.

Amad sends message

Taking to his Instagram account, Amad has hinted that he is close to being ready for game-time, just in time for January.

Amad posted a video of himself running, captioned by the message: “Positive to be back on the grass”, followed by a smiling emoji.

Sunderland were reported earlier this month to be confident of landing Amad in January.

Tony Mowbray had previously voiced his concerns about replacing the on-loan winger, and therefore would probably welcome a return for the Ivory Coast man in January.

Amad Diallo stats for Sunderland

Amad spent last season on loan at the Stadium of Light and had become a fan favourite throughout the course.

Playing a huge role in the Black Cats playoff charge, he was top-class and his stats tell that same story, as per TransferMarkt.

He made 42 appearances for Sunderland last season, and in this, he scored 14 goals and made four assists.

The sheer quality of goals was what caught the eye, as he scored a few wonder goals in his time here. With January fast approaching, we wonder if a deal will be done.
