Sunderland have now submitted a loan offer for a player Michael Beale really wants.
Michael Beale is still waiting to make his first signing as Sunderland boss but there is growing confidence that one is around the corner.
The Black Cats must seriously look at investing in the full-back area during this window.
Beale has been cursed by the players who have been hampered by injuries at left-back, including the long-term absentees of Dennis Cirkin and Niall Huggins.
The 43-year-old has even revealed that Aji Alese – who filled in on the left side of defence against Newcastle and Ipswich – has picked up a knock which forced him to sit out of training and could now miss the Hull match on Friday.
That position must now be plugged with Sunderland eyeing up a loan move for Leicester City left-back Luke Thomas.
Their movement in the loan market doesn’t just stop there, though, with it now revealed that a loan bid has been submitted for a Premier League striker.

Sunderland submit loan offer for Bournemouth striker Kieffer Moore
It has been made clear that Bournemouth striker Kieffer Moore is top of their list of striker targets.
The 31-year-old has proven to be a goal machine at Championship level, plundering 25 goals in his last 64 appearances in the second tier.
Moore has seen his game time decrease since the Cherries were promoted to the top flight, making just seven substitute appearances this term.
Bournemouth are keen to let him depart on loan and in their live transfer blog, the Athletic have now revealed that Sunderland and fellow promotion chasers Ipswich have made offers.
The offers from both clubs have included contributing a percentage of his salary, but the terms of the proposed deals have not yet proved satisfactory.
Signing Moore makes sense for both parties
Although Bournemouth see Moore as an important player, they have acknowledged his desire to play more matches and joining the Stadium of Light would see him fulfil that ambition.
Sunderland have been cursed in the striker position this term. Tony Mowbray signed four young forwards in the summer who have failed to stamp their mark on the side.
Only Nazariy Rusyn in recent weeks has looked like delivering the potential his transfer promised, but his solitary goal against Preston isn’t enough to convince Beale he’s the man to lead the line after leaving him out in the defeat to Ipswich.
Moore is a different profile of striker to the ones acquired previously. He’s strong, excellent in the air and great at sniffing out opportunities.
However, he would require improved service in the box to thrive in red and white.
While the current strikers have been criticised, they often haven’t been provided with the opportunities, though, utilising a target man like Moore will give Sunderland a towering presence to hit up top.
If the service is improved, the “lethal” Welshman will score goals, it’s as simple as that.
