With Alex Pritchard on the verge of leaving Sunderland to join Birmingham City today, another Black Cats man could be heading out the exit door.
And we could see another Championship switch on the cards with Michael Graham revealing on X last night that Jay Matete has interest from the Championship.
The 22-year-old is yet to feature under Michael Beale and yet to feature in the league this season, after injury curtailed his start to the campaign.
But the Englishman has interest from the Championship and could be on the move later today, after Graham posted on X:
Interest in Matete was reported last week but now as we approach the winter deadline, it looks as though interest in the former Fleetwood Town man is heating up.
Jay Matete needs to get game time away from Sunderland
Matete showed in League One his abilities and potential. But since promotion, he’s just not been able to get in and around the first-team all that much, with eight total Championship appearances to his name.
But he could be a good loan capture for some teams in and around the bottom-end of the Championship table and if they can offer him game time, it would be a smart move all round.

Sunderland aren’t very well-stocked in the middle of the pitch but if they can get Matete back up to match speed and with some Championship experience under his belt, he could become an important player in time for next season.
Like Graham says, Matete potentially leaving the Stadium of Light is one to watch today.
But Sunderland fans will be more interested in what business their own team will do today, with a new striker still looking like the priority.
