Sunderland are reportedly now likely to sign Nathan Bishop from Manchester United on a permanent deal this summer.
Bishop is seemingly the target for Sunderland who want a new goalkeeper to come in.
Manchester United’s 23-year-old regressed last season making just five Premier League 2 appearances which wasn’t how he wanted to follow an impressive loan at Mansfield the season prior.

Therefore it appears especially with the goalkeeping overhaul at Old Trafford that Bishop now wants senior football.
According to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, Bishop is ‘likely’ to join Sunderland, with Sunderland only having one senior goalkeeper currently, he is a needed signing to provide competition for Anthony Patterson.
Would Bishop be a good signing?
Despite struggling to establish himself at Old Trafford, that can’t be held against Bishop who has impressed when he has played elsewhere and could be a smart signing from Boro.
It is likely Bishop would be coming in initially as a backup to current number one Patterson. However given Bishop’s age, he could end up thriving given the chance to play regular first team football.
The best example of what Bishop is capable of is his season at Mansfield, which saw him keep 16 clean-sheets in 53 games.
With no path to football at United it is high time he makes a move elsewhere and look to finally make good on his potential.
He will undoubtedly have been given a positive Wearside review by Amad Diallo who embraced his loan here last season.
Bishop seems inevitable, but Tony Mowbray will be hoping for more.
