Sunderland interested in signing £6.8m Chilean attacker

Sunderland are reportedly still keen to bring more signings in this summer as they look to improve on last seasons playoff finish.

Tony Mowbray has still yet to receive the Amad Diallo replacement he has been longing for this summer.

With defence and midfield being prioritised this summer along with an abundance of young talents who won’t necessarily be ready this season.

The biggest acquisition has been Dutch defender Jenson Seelt who is just 20-years-old.

The youthful preference continued with 17-year-old Jobe Bellingham arriving from Birmingham for north of £1million too.

This clear shift toward signing a more youthful profile has been in place for over a season now.

With only Bradley Dack arriving over the age of 23, Sunderland are clearly building for the future as well as the present.

They seem to be continuing this trend with the latest player linked with a move.

Aravena linked with Sunderland

Coming from reports in Chile, Sunderland are extremely interested in signing 20-year-old winger Alexander Aravena.

Aravena currently plays for Universidad Catolica in Chile’s premier division, and now if reports by Minutod are to be believed he could be on his way to the Championship.

He has enjoyed an exceptional last season in Chile, scoring ten times and assisting four in 22 games for his club.

He is considered to be a huge prospect who is capable of providing goal contributions from wide, similar to Amad last season.

He would be a good signing with a high ceiling however there is a sticking point.

The issue comes as he is reportedly valued around €8million (£6.8m) which could be a fee the Black Cats struggle to meet this summer.

The recent departure of Isaac Lihadji however makes this position a top priority, so if a deal can be made, it would be solid business.
