Sunderland fans have been sent into panic after the club received their first bid for Jack Clarke.

The Times have reported that Ipswich Town have made a bid worth around £20 million for the attacker, though Sunderland are yet to respond.

Clarke has received heavy interest from the Premier League since last summer and looks likely to leave before the deadline, though it’s unclear whether that will be to Portman Road.

One of the latest clubs that had appeared desperate to sign Clarke was Leeds United, who were still searching for a replacement for Crysencio Summerville.

Leeds United closing in on ex-Man Utd academy gem

West Ham paid over £25m for the Dutchman earlier this month, so the Whites would likely have been able to afford Clarke’s price tag.

However, it now looks like Leeds may have brought their interest in the 23-year-old to an abrupt end.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Yorkshire outfit are closing in on a ‘deal’ for another left winger.

He wrote on X: “EXCL: Leeds United have agreed deal to sign Largie Ramazani from Almería, here we go!

Fee will be €11.7m total package add-ons included plus 15% sell-on clause. Medical tests booked.”

The former Manchester United academy product claimed three goals and five assists for Almeria in La Liga last season before they were relegated.

Ramazani is primarily a left winger but can also play as a centre forward and as a right winger.

Elland Road would have been a strange move for Clarke

Leeds have also lost Georginio Rutter, who played as a centre forward or second striker last term, so Ramazani could also have been brought into replace him.

However, it seems likely that the Belgian will adopt a role out wide, making it very unlikely that Leeds would also fork out a further £25m for Clarke.

Despite spending ten years at Elland Road, it would have still been very surprising if Clarke had pushed for a return.

The Whites had previously been tipped for promotion but could well miss out after losing so many key players, while fans aren’t happy that they have kept hold of Daniel Farke either.

The attacker will surely only move to the Premier League if he does, and it will be interesting to see whether it is to a club that are highly likely to be immediately relegated.
