One Sunderland youngster has found himself a new agent ahead of the January transfer window.

With the January transfer window looming, the Black Cats will likely be looking to bolster their attacking options as a result of the several injuries currently hampering Regis Le Bris’ selection options.

Sunderland will need to replace the likes of Tommy Watson, who looks likely to be out for months after the costly injury he picked up in the plucky 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light against Bristol City.

Romaine Mundle also continues his spell on the sidelines, and will likely be out until the start of 2025, only furthering the need for Kristjaan Speakman to sanction arrivals in the upcoming window.

Of course with the signings that Sunderland will be expected to make, there will undoubtedly be players heading towards the exit, and the wheels could be in motion with one, who has switched agents ahead up the upcoming window.

Sunderland youngster Jewison Bennette under new agent as January window looms

Costa Rican winger Jewison Bennette had his breakout Sunderland season in the 2022/23 Championship campaign, notching 15 appearances under Tony Mowbray.

However, games in the first team have been scarce in the recent two seasons, with him not being handed a single minute of Championship action under French boss Le Bris.

Bennette has in fact been in-and-around the Sunderland U21 set-up, notching appearances whilst still putting in decent performances at youth level, and scoring two goals in the Premier League 2 against Middlesbrough. He has also been utilised at left-back in recent weeks.

As a result, the Black Cats will likely sanction a move for the 20-year-old, and that could very well take place with the winger having changed his agent after signing a deal with ‘Link Sports’.

Sunderland must attempt relighting interest in League One loan for Jewison Bennette

In the summer, Bennette was wanted by League One side Reading, in what would be a loan deal.

The move would have been perfect for the young Black Cats prospect, but issues behind the scenes for Reading prevented the deal from going the distance.

Based on the talents shown by Bennette in his maiden Championship campaign, there is no doubt that he could thrive in the third-tier of English football, and Sunderland and Speakman should do everything in their power to potentially revive a League One loan move, either to Reading or another potential suitor.
