Sunderland fans’ worst fears could come true in January as club ‘accepts’ Jobe Bellingham fate amid Dortmund interest

Sunderland fans will not be pleased with the latest transfer update on star player Jobe Bellingham ahead of the January window.

Bellingham has previously been linked with Premier League clubs Crystal Palace and Brentford, as well as Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.

The attacking midfielder is in fine form for Regis Le Bris’ side in the 2024/25 season so those rumours are not likely to go away anytime soon.

Instead, talk of the 19-year-old’s potential exit only appears to be growing as time goes on – something Sunderland supporters will not enjoy.

Jobe Bellingham transfer update will worry Sunderland fans

Bellingham is an integral part of Le Bris’ team, who expect to be part of the Championship play-offs next May at the very least.

So, Sunderland will be desperate not to lose him midway through the season. However, they might have no choice but to sell him if the latest reports are to be believed.

“There is an acceptance that his form might attract offers too good to turn down,” according to The Athletic.

This is not what Sunderland fans want to hear, as they would like sporting director Kristjaan Speakman to turn down any offer that comes his way.

But the reality is that every player has a price, as was the case when Jack Clarke joined Ipswich Town for £15 million last summer.

What is Jobe Bellingham’s transfer value?

SportBILD is reporting that Sunderland will probably command around £25m for Bellingham, who has three and a half years left on his contract.

But they add that because the midfielder does not have a release clause, the asking price could be even higher.

And when you consider that Leeds received £30m for Archie Gray from Tottenham in the summer, this does not seem unrealistic.

However, these figures far exceed Transfermarkt’s valuation of the Sunderland favourite, which currently sits at £10m.
