Sunderland have joined the race to sign Musa Drammeh.
That’s according to Sunderland Nation, who have reported that the Black Cats have sent scouts to watch the striker in action for Sevilla’s B team.
Born in Spain, Musa Drammeh is a 6″2 forward who is able to play across the attack, but primarily stars in the striker position.
The right-footed Gambian joined Sevilla from Extremadura in January 2022 on a free transfer and was immediately placed into their second team, Sevilla Atletico, who compete in the fourth division of Spanish football.
Drammeh failed to score in eight league appearances in the second half of the 2021/22 season, while he was also a unused substitute for a further eight games.
The 22-year-old’s goalscoring form didn’t improve much last season, as he netted only one goal in 23 appearances, though he only managed six starts in the entire league campaign.
Things have looked much more positive for Drammeh this season though, having already picked up five goals and two assists in 13 games in the Segunda Federacion. Though it appears that he has spent a majority of his time on the right flank.

With Drammeh now reportedly pushing for a place in Sevilla’s first team, interest has grown in his signature and Sunderland are said to be one of several clubs monitoring him.
The youngster’s contract is set to expire next summer and he could potentially be snapped up in the January transfer window, with his market value reportedly only £85,000.
Is this another crazy idea?
Musa Drammeh is 22 years old and has never played above the fourth division of Spanish football, while he had only scored one league goal before September.
To see Sunderland go in for him in January would probably actually push fans over the edge once and for all, because what exactly is he going to offer that the other four strikers can’t?
I would be surprised if we actually coughed up the money for another striker next month in the first place, but for it to be on another inexperienced forward with barely any senior goals would be unbelievable.
I would rather stick with what we have got and see if our new manager can transform them into what we need, because Drammeh isn’t the answer.
The Zambian hasn’t even been playing up front either, and I would be surprised if we are bringing him into challenge Patrick Roberts. I could think of some much better alternatives who will push him to improve than a Sevilla B player.
