Sunderland could be about to miss out on signing Argentine Benjamin Rollheiser as Newcastle look interested in the Lionel Messi regen.

Tony Mowbray remains keen on bolstering his options in January with the right wing a clear area of focus.

Long linked with a return for Amad Diallo of Manchester United, Sunderland are definitely missing out on goal contributions from the right to match Jack Clarke’s excellence on the left.

However, Amad isn’t the only option, Sunderland could be about to miss out on a player they are believed to have been interested in on loan.

Sunderland could miss out on Rollheiser to Newcastle

According to Argentine outlet Ole, Newcastle are now heading up interest in 23-year-old Argentine winger Benjamin Rollheiser.

Newcastle are interested in signing the £12 million valued winger alongside Russian teams Zenit St Petersburg and CSKA Moscow.

Where Sunderland are currently at a disadvantage is that the Black Cats are only believed to be interested or able to complete a loan deal.

The talented Argentina U23 international has recently exploded into prominence and is probably an option for Mowbray alongside Amad for the right wing position.

Lionel Messi comparison

Rollheiser is a diminutive left-footed winger who can play across the front line along with being increasingly more prolific.

He is a player currently at Estudiantes where his boss Eduardo Dominguez has previously suggested that Rollheiser shows glimpses of Lionel Messi.

Dominguez admitted the two aren’t of the same level but that players with talented that these two have are ‘very difficult to find’.

Huge praise for the winger, and Sunderland will be hoping his talented could be on the way to the Stadium of Light.
