Sunderland are interested in signing Manchester United’s Nathan Bishop.
That’s according to Sunderland Nation, who have reported that the goalkeeper has been made a ‘top target’ by the Black Cats this summer.
Bishop joined Manchester United in 2020 and has been named on the bench in the Premier League on four occasions, though he is yet to make his senior debut for the club.

The 23-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell with Mansfield Town during the 2021-22 campaign, picking up 16 clean sheets that included their 1-0 win over Sunderland in the FA Cup.
Bishop was well loved at Mansfield, with Nigel Clough claiming the ‘keeper is ‘absolutely brilliant’ after a win over Exeter City in March 2022.
Bishop signed a one-year extension with Manchester United this summer, though he could still seal a move away from the club despite their lack of depth in between the sticks.
The Southend United academy graduate could replace Alex Bass as back-up to Anthony Patterson, with the 25-year-old set to join AFC Wimbledon on loan.
Sunderland will hope that Nathan Bishop can provide genuine competition for Anthony Patterson
Anthony Patterson was sensational for the most part last season, however the Black Cats would have been in big trouble if he had got injured or endured a difficult patch.

Alex Bass was always a strange signing for the Black Cats and never really impressed when making an appearance, leaving fans struggling to put their trust in him.
His loan move to Wimbledon pretty much sums up his level and the Wearside club would really benefit from a much higher quality goalkeeper in Nathan Bishop.
If the 23-year-old can provide Patterson will some decent competition then it can only benefit both of them as they look to land the number one spot.
