The former Sunderland target has been linked with a move to Championship rivals Sheffield United.
Sunderland are finally beginning to get the wheels in motion ahead of the 2024/25 Championship season.
New French boss Regis Le Bris has arrived with the expectation of turning around the unsatisfactory 2023/24 campaign, which saw Sunderland plummet to 16th in the second half of the season.
Le Bris has the perfect skillset in getting the best out of Sunderland’s young squad, having spent over a decade in FC Lorient’s youth coaching set up.
However, this has not halted Sunderland’s need to bring experience into the squad, with the average age of the first team currently standing at a lowly 23.
It’s also important that Le Bris brings in a goalscorer before the twilight of the transfer window, and a Championship rival has moved ahead of the Black Cats in that pursuit.

Sheffield United interested in former Sunderland linked striker Kieffer Moore
Sheffield United have decided to ‘take a look’ at bringing former Sunderland target Kieffer Moore to Bramall Lane from Premier League club Bournemouth, per James Shield.
Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder is reportedly impressed by Moore’s performances in the second half of the 2023/24 Championship season on loan with Ipswich Town, leading to the South Yorkshire outfit pursuing the Welsh international.
Sunderland were interested in the Bournemouth striker in January during the 2023/24 season as an answer to their goal drought and lack of goalscoring threat, however missed out as he made the move to Ipswich Town on loan.

Should Sunderland go back in for Kieffer Moore
Le Bris is on the lookout for both Championship experience and goal scoring prowess ahead of the 2024/25 Championship campaign, something that Moore has in excess.
The 31-year-old striker has an impressive 54 goals in 173 Championship appearances, and is still playing at the top of his game after helping Ipswich Town to promotion with seven goals in 18 matches.
Moore would certainly fit the mould of a leader in the dressing room that is so sought after at the Stadium of Light, on top of being a leading Championship attacker when on his game.
Inconsistencies plagued Sunderland’s 2023/24 campaign, however goals are guaranteed even on bad days at the office with Moore.
Wage demands may be sizeable for the Premier League forward, however Moore is a no-brainer for Sunderland to target this summer and would be a true statement that Kyril Louis-Dreyfus is willing to back the new manager.
