Ellis Simms is open to returning to Sunderland this summer.
The Sunderland Echo have reported the striker would be happy to rejoin the Black Cats if Everton are to cash in on him.
Simms spent the first half of the 2022-23 season on loan on Wearside and bagged seven goals before he was recalled to Goodison Park.

The attacker spent most of his return on the bench, although he managed to score his first Premier League goal right at the death of the Toffees’ 2-2 draw with Chelsea in March.
With only a year left on his deal, Everton are likely to offload Simms this summer and a host of clubs are said to be interested.
Sunderland are reportedly joined by the likes of Ipswich Town, Middlesbrough and Stoke City in chasing the 22-year-old. Yet it is thought that Simms is keen to reunite with his former teammates at the Stadium of Light.
However, while rumours yesterday that Everton had turned down a £4m bid from Ipswich for Simms were played down, Sunderland may be priced out of a move if any interested party can reach that valuation.
Ellis Simms’ desire to return to Sunderland won’t help financially
Given how many Sunderland fans want Simms back at the club, it will be a delight to hear that he would also like to make his comeback on Wearside.
The link up between Simms and Ross Stewart last season was a sight to behold and the pair would certainly boost any chances of winning promotion at the second attempt.

Following a stunning goal against Millwall in December, Sky Sports pundit Lee Hundred labelled Simms as ‘brilliant’ before he went on to net four goals in six matches.
However, Simms’ thoughts on a move to Sunderland make no difference to how much Everton will demand for him.
The Toffees know there is increasing interest in their player and they will be hopeful of landing a decent profit as they look to rack up funds for their own signings.
The Black Cats want to avoid overspending on the striker and may have to look elsewhere if a bidding war erupts.
