Michael Beale’s blunt response when asked about Sunderland links to 33 year-old

Sunderland fans have a lot to discuss after last night’s Championship defeat vs Hull City. And potential new signings is one topic.

Sunderland welcomed Hull City to the Stadium of Light last night.

And it should’ve been an exciting game between two play-off chasing teams. But both came into this one in poor form and both played out some of the worst minutes of football we’ve seen this season.

There was just five shots on target throughout the 90 (Sofascore), with Fabio Carvalho’s winner needing a deflection to get past Anthony Patterson.

The defeat has piled pressure on Michael Beale whose main criticism appears to be his negative and timid playing style.

The players didn’t cover themselves in glory either, but right now there’s a deject mood among Sunderland fans and Beale is the face of the atmosphere.

Sunderland fans spot potential new signings at Hull City game

Another talking point from last night’s game, and definitely a less negative one, was social media speculation that two new signings were in attendance at the game vs Hull City.

Several accounts posted pictures of what appeared to be two people wearing Sunderland shirts and being photographed on the pitch before the game.

More then speculated that one of the people in question was former Black Cats loan hero Yann M’Vila, who’s this week been linked with a shock return to Wearside

And Beale was questioned on the M’Vila links after the game, to which he offered this short response:

“Yann M’Vila? It’s nothing that I’ve discussed in house.”

M’Vila, 33, spent the 2015/16 season on loan at Sunderland from Rubin Kazan and is currently a free agent after being released by Olympiacos last summer.

Speculation is just that, but hope that new signings are coming soon

It’s hard to tell from pictures on social media whether or not these two people on the pitch were in fact new signings, or if it was something else entirely.

And Beale’s comments on M’Vila may be taken in one of two ways; he might have been told to keep the move under wraps, or he genuinely may not have heard of the M’Vila links.

Either way, it remains an exciting potential signing for the Black Cats and the return of a former fan favourite would certainly go towards improving what is currently a very negative atmosphere among the fans.

Up next is a home game vs Stoke City next weekend; another defeat in front of the Sunderland faithful would really pile the pressure on 43-year-old Beale.
