Sunderland could still sign a further two players before this week’s transfer deadline day.
That’s according to journalist Alan Nixon, who has reported that the Black Cats are still waiting on a striker and could also bring a new midfielder in on loan.
Sunderland kicked off their summer transfer business very quickly and have so far snapped up Jenson Seelt, Jobe Bellingham, Eliezer Mayenda, Nectarios Triantis, Bradley Dack, Luis Hemir Semedo and Nathan Bishop.

However, fans have been left hugely frustrated as they still haven’t bought a senior striker with only three days left of the window.
The club remain without the injured Ross Stewart, who may make his return at the end of next month. However, they have so far been forced to play with Jobe and Dack as their most attacking players, while Tony Mowbray has left Hemir out of the line-up since the opening day defeat to Ipswich Town.
Who could Sunderland sign before transfer deadline day?
Sunderland have been heavily linked with a number of strikers and it still looks like their most likely addition will be Nazariy Rusyn, who has already admitted that there is an agreement in place for him to move to Wearside this week.
Meanwhile, a new midfielder could be a surprise signing for Sunderland. Nixon has claimed a loan deal for a midfielder ‘might be in wind’, though it is unclear who it could be.
The Champonship club haven’t been linked with many midfield additions since Dack arrived, though it is thought that they are eager to bring in some experience as Corry Evans remains sidelined for most of the new season.

Nixon has also confirmed that Sunderland aren’t one of the clubs looking to sign Nottingham Forest’s Lewis O’Brien, which is a shame because he was exceptional during his time at Huddersfield Town.
Mowbray’s side need to be looking at someone of his quality – especially if he is available on a season-long loan and Sunderland don’t have to splash the cash to bring him to the Stadium of Light.
