Former Sunderland star loanee, Amad Diallo has made a short statement on social media following links of a move back to the North East.

It is safe to say that nobody is going to forget the loan spell of Amad Diallo at Sunderland any time soon, that’s how good he was.

Under the tutelage of Tony Mowbray, the youngster flourished on loan from Manchester United as the Black Cats made the playoffs.

There were hopes that with the Ivorian failing to play many minutes in the Premier League that another loan spell was possible.

It must be said that with Michael Beale now in charge, a potential deal felt like it was less likely than it might have been.

With Jack Clarke working miracles this season and Patrick Roberts on the opposite flank, Diallo would complement them perfectly.

However, with the most recent revelation in this transfer saga, it doesn’t appear like a return to the Stadium of Light is on the cards.

Amad Diallo makes loan statement

This week has seen a report be posted and subsequently deleted by CentreDevils on Twitter which Diallo replied to.

The account has since posted saying: “Apologies if the post has been misunderstood. We’re not saying that you’re leaving. We’re just sharing quotes from a former Premier League player who suggested a Championship side could look to make a move for you. That’s why used the word ‘tipped’.”

It is safe to say that the account was apologetic to the Ivorian, but what was his response to the report linking him away?

The young attacker simply said: “Stop lying mate!”

This would have you believe that any rumours linking Diallo to a return to Sunderland are false and a move isn’t happening. This will come as a disappointment to fans who had hung some hope on a loan move in January.

In his original loan stint with the Black Cats, he managed 14 goals in 39 appearances in the Championship back in 2022/23, according to FotMob.

Since then he has only managed one Premier League appearance which came in a defeat to Nottingham Forest. These were his first minutes of the campaign but he hasn’t made an appearance since.

With that being said, it pointed to a loan move being possible this summer with a Sunderland return seemingly making sense. With Mowbray now at Birmingham City, there were reports linking him with the Blues.

It now seems like the season will spent with Manchester United despite a lack of minutes. With this statement, it appears that his future is safe at Old Trafford.
