Yet another team has joined the long list of admirers for Chris Rigg, and they’re desperate to get a deal done as soon as possible.

Sunderland have a great habit of producing top young talent through their youth system, but Chris Rigg may well be the very best of them all.

The teenager came to prominence two years ago, and has not looked back since making his Black Cats debut.

He is now a key figure in Regis Le Bris’ squad, but it remains to be seen how long Sunderland can keep hold of him.

Rigg has already been scouted by multiple clubs, including Manchester United and Arsenal, but he has now attracted fresh attention from abroad.

Inter Milan want Chris Rigg with £12.5m offer on the table

According to a report from Inter Live, Italian giants Inter Milan are the latest to enter the race for Rigg, as Simone Inzaghi looks to add a new playmaker to his squad at the San Siro.

It is said the Nerazzurri will try to fill that gap in the summer window, and have now identified Rigg as an option. Inter are thought to want a younger player, someone who offers versatility and creativity, and who can be a bit of a “wildcard” on the pitch.

Inter have been impressed by Rigg’s “possession and intensity” already, as well as his maturity, as he continues to flourish in the Sunderland squad.

Now, the Serie A outfit want to “get ahead of everyone” in the race for Rigg’s signature by offering €15m (£12.5m) to get a deal done “immediately”. There is a suggestion that Sunderland may be “tempted to accept” such an offer.

Sunderland should demand double for Chris Rigg

Surely, an offer of just £12.5m for Rigg would be instantly turned down by Sunderland.

While Sunderland are thought to be resigned to losing Rigg in the summer, the Black Cats are believed to be wanting closer to £25m for the youngster.

Sunderland never planned on selling Rigg in January, with the caveat that a summer move was always likely to happen (depending on whether the Wearsiders can make it to the Premier League or not).

Whatever happens, fans would not be happy to see one of their own sold for such a low sum. Supporters believe Rigg is worth £20-30m at least, and we are inclined to agree with them, especially considering his immense potential.
