Amad Diallo drops Sunderland hint in social media post amid Middlesbrough rumours

Amad Diallo has dropped what seems to be a subtle hint on his potential future with Sunderland.

Amad Diallo became one of Sunderland’s most loved loanees last season as he claimed 16 goal contributions in the Championship.

The Ivorian played a vital part in helping the Black Cats reach the playoffs, while also scoring the equaliser in the semi final first leg clash against Luton Town.

Sunderland were one of a number of clubs trying to sign Amad once again in the summer, but a serious injury put an end to any interest in his signature.

The race has heated up again during the January transfer window, though Sunderland’s pursuit of the midfielder seems to have quietened down.

Reports yesterday even claimed that rivals Middlesbrough were now favourites to land Amad, with the 21-year-old familiar with Michael Carrick from his time at Manchester United.

The likes of Leicester City and Southampton have also been linked with a move for Amad, however fans would certainly be extremely frustrated if he did end up at the Riverside Stadium instead.

Amad has now dropped a hint regarding the rumours though, with many supporters believing it means he won’t be joining Middlesbrough.

The Ivory Coast international took to Instagram last night to share a photo of him celebrating a goal for Sunderland in which he is blowing kisses to the fans. The Instagram story was also accompanied by a ‘kiss’ emoji.

So is Amad Diallo joining Middlesbrough?

It could just be a complete coincidence that Amad Diallo has posted this to his Instagram just hours after rumours circulated of a potential move to Middlesbrough, but it definitely doesn’t seem like it.

The attacking midfielder has made his love for Sunderland very clear since leaving Wearside at the end of last season, and he has previously admitted that he wouldn’t want to join another Championship club if he had the choice.

While reports claimed Middlesbrough could offer a better financial package, it could well be down to Amad if he moves there on loan, and I would assume his Instagram post means he isn’t keen on the switch.

There has been very little talk of Amad returning to the Stadium of Light though, but at this stage it looks like he is more likely to stay at Old Trafford than be sent out on loan again.

Antony is yet to impress under Erik ten Hag and Facundo Pellistri has recently been linked with a January exit, so Manchester United could now offer Amad more minutes this term.
