Sunderland take on Plymouth Argyle in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Sunderland go into this weekend’s round of games in 1st place of the Championship table.

Regis Le Bris has guided his side to a perfect start to the 2024/25 season with four wins from four, beating Portsmouth 3-1 last time out.

Speaking to the press on Thursday, Le Bris revealed no new injury concerns following the international break.

Fans will be hoping to see their side hit the ground running once again, and put away a Plymouth Argyle side that currently sit in 22nd.

Here are three things that Sunderland fans might be looking out for when the team news comes out at 2pm…

Chris Rigg keeps his starting spot for Sunderland

One of Sunderland’s star players so far this season is Chris Rigg.

The 17-year-old has started the last three games now and has shown huge signs of progression in this new style of play.

So much so that Real Madrid are being linked with Rigg, along with the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City.

Competition in the middle of the park is now rife at Sunderland and so Rigg will have to be at his best to keep his spot.

But hes don’t nothing yet to force Le Bris into a change.

Tom Watson on the bench for Sunderland

Another youngster who’s coming through the Sunderland academy, but is yet to make his mark on the first-team is Tom Watson.

Watson has impressed during the international break, scoring some impressive goals and once again giving fans plenty to be impressed with.

He’s been an unused substitute in the last couple of games now.

Sunderland fans will no doubt want to see Watson on the bench once again for this game, but they’ll also want to see him given some minutes towards the end.

New Sunderland signings in the squad

Sunderland still have their four deadline day signings to bring into the fold, though only two look set to feature vs Plymouth.

It’s been reported that Chris Mepham and Milan Aleksic are in contention to be in the squad to face Plymouth.

Sunderland fans will be particularly keen to see Aleksic in action; he’s the most expensive signing of the Kyril Louis-Dreyfus era at Sunderland.

Expect Le Bris to bring the Serbian international off the bench later on in the game.
