One Sunderland youngster is currently shining away from Wearside and has certainly made a case to be a key player next season.
Sunderland have several players out on loan for the 2024/25 Championship season.
It was clear that Black Cats boss Regis Le Bris was not keen on keeping surplus players in-and-around the squad, therefore looked to offload as many as possible.
In the summer, two players were shipped off to Ligue 1, as Pierre Ekwah joined St Etienne, whilst Timothee Pembele moved to Le Havre, whilst Nathan Bishop and Jay Matete were handed League One loans.
Another player that has spent the 2024/25 campaign away from Wearside in incredibly successful fashion is Nectarios Triantis.
The Australian has been a crucial player whilst on loan at Hibernian, and has helped them on a recent brilliant run to help them reach 3rd in the Scottish Premiership.
Triantis’ performances have been so complete in the centre of the park, they will no doubt give Le Bris a selection headache next season.

Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris set to be handed 2025/26 selection headache after Nectarios Triantis form
No Sunderland loanee has quite thrived as much as Triantis has this season, having notched eight goal contributions from defensive midfield.
Triantis was hailed as ‘sublime’ in a recent win vs Celtic, whilst Hibs fans have been full of praise for the Australian.
The victory against Celtic also saw Triantis noted for his ‘great run’ of form, per Edinburgh News.
His current form, per SofaScore, has him as the player with the highest average rating (7.22) in the squad, and is the 14th top rated in the entire Scottish Premiership.
Whilst Sunderland currently has Dan Neil in holding midfield, the option of Triantis would certainly trump the rest of Le Bris’ options next season, and the Australian could even stake a claim to be handed game time ahead of the Black Cats team captain.

Kris Boyd comments about Nectarios Triantis will fill Black Cats fans with excitement
This weekend, Triantis’ Hibernian saw off bitter city-rivals Hearts to make it 15 games unbeaten in all competitions, in what was a 2-1 home win at Easter Road.
Following the clash, Triantis was praised by former Rangers striker Kris Boyd for his performance in the victory, as well as the impact he has had on the side this season.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Boyd said: “Whether it’s going to get the ball off the centre-backs, whether it’s getting up to support, I just think his all-round game is now in a good place. He’s affected games, he’s scored goals and you’ve got to say, we speak about the goalkeeper and the change to a back three, but I think the consistency from Triantis has allowed Hibs to function in the way they have in recent weeks.
“There is so much to like about his game, he’s so enthusiastic, his energy, he just wants to win and get after the opposition. For me, I think he’s been the main reason why Hibs turned the corner.”
Triantis has been nothing short of sublime, and there is no doubt that Sunderland fans will be keen to see the midfielder in red & white once again.
