Regis Le Bris must be aware of one Sheffield United weakness that Sunderland could easily exploit.

Sunderland are gearing up for a promotion six-pointer against Sheffield United, where they will hope to follow up their five successive draws with a win.

It will be an incredibly tough task for the Black Cats, who will be without top attacker Romaine Mundle for the clash, whilst left-back Dennis Cirkin is also set to be out of action for the clash at Bramall Lane.

Regis Le Bris’ side are certainly set to be in for a difficult evening against the hosts, with them managing five wins in their previous six, making them a real force to be reckoned with so far in the 2024/25 Championship campaign.

However, there is a clear weakness in the Blades side that Le Bris could easily look to exploit in order to bring his side some good fortune, and he has the perfect man to do so.

Sunderland must exploit obvious Sheffield United weakness with Wilson Isidor

The Black Cats have found it difficult in the final third in the last few games, especially last time out against West Brom, where they played out a poor 0-0 draw.

However, they could have more success against Sheffield United, especially with the likes of Wilson Isidor at striker, and that is due to the way Blades boss Chris Wilder likes to set up his centre-back pairing.

In previous games, per SofaScore Sheffield United’s average positions for their centre-back pairing have often sat quite split and high up, leaving acres of space in-between, which would be ideal for the French forward to feed off.

The likely partnership of Harry Souttar and Jack Robinson are also on the slower side, meaning that Isidor’s pace could prove to be beneficial for the Black Cats.

Sunderland midfielders must be on top form to get the best out of Wilson Isidor vs Sheffield United

Le Bris’ side can very easily be set up for success this evening with Isidor leading the line, but they must ensure that the midfield three are up to scratch in order to spot the French attacker.

It will likely be Dan Neil, Jobe Bellingham and Chris Rigg named in-the centre-of-the-park for the Black Cats, and with the bags of talent that they possess, they should be in a perfect opportunity to really break down the Blades and hand them just their third defeat of the 2024/25 Championship season.
