Sunderland fans could potentially be in for a surprise ahead of the clash with Burnley.

The Black Cats will face a trip to Burnley this evening for a top-of-the-table Championship clash.

Sitting just two points away from the Clarets, a win could take Regis Le Bris’ side up to second, only behind Daniel Farke’s Leeds United on goal difference.

Ahead of the game, there have been many questions over who Sunderland boss Le Bris will look to utilise away at Turf Moor, with new signing Enzo Le Fee set to be utilised, either from the off or in the second half from off the bench.

However, another man that could potentially get a look in against the odds is Sunderland midfielder Milan Aleksic, who could be given the opportunity to showcase his abilities and build off of his goalscoring performance against Stoke City.

Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris could make surprise inclusion for Milan Aleksic vs Burnley

Ever since arriving in the summer, French boss Le Bris doesn’t often like to rotate his players, unless forced upon by injury or suspension.

However, Le Bris could potentially make one exception in favour of Aleksic, who, last time out, put on a solid showing in his substitute performance against Stoke City, which saw him bag the Black Cats’ sole goal of the game.

He has only been utilised on three occasions so far in the league this season, which is why it would certainly be a surprise to see him in the starting side against Burnley, but Le Bris will potentially see it as an opportunity for the Serbian 19-year-old to build on the foundations that he laid against Stoke City.

Stoke City performance could be the building blocks for Milan Aleksic kickstarting Black Cats career

It is safe to say that Aleksic’s Sunderland career has undergone a rather slow start, and whilst many may turn towards his age as a reason for his lack of game time, there is no side in the Championship that looks to offer youngster’s gametime quite like the Black Cats.

There is no doubt that he has the potential to be special for Sunderland, he just simply needs that game time to show his true ability, as he succeeded in doing so in the clash with Stoke City in the FA Cup.

It would be a bold call for Le Bris to give Aleksic a start against an in-form Burnley side in such a crucial game, but it will be a real testament to the French boss’ trust in his younger ranks, and the Serbian certainly deserves the opportunity to build on his goalscoring performance, with his confidence certainly higher than ever on Wearside.
