Sunderland gem Chris Rigg has been named in England’s U17 World Cup squad ahead of the championships commencing.
Chris Rigg has regularly been part of the Sunderland first-team this season and even grabbed his first goal.
A player with massive potential, highly thought of among most English football clubs and has seen interest from clubs like Manchester United in recent months.
Tony Mowbray has been full of praise for Rigg also recently which highlights how impressive he has been.
At just 16 years old he is a player we are keen to see develop at Sunderland and hopefully get more and more minutes.
He has now seen a huge honour be bestowed on him ahead of the U17 World Cup in Indonesia.

Rigg named in England squad
Chris Rigg has been named in the England squad for the U17 World Cup which is set to begin imminently.
Rigg was the only Black Cat named in the squad and will be hoping to return to the Academy of Light as a World Champion.
According to TransferMarkt, England will kick off their campaign against New Caledonia a week on Saturday before facing Iran and Brazil to wrap up the group.
With some impressive displays, Rigg could see his value skyrocket, leaving Tony Mowbray no choice but to play him.
He could become a hot commodity
Rigg is already wanted and among England’s most exciting young midfielders, but as often is the case a standout display in a tournament like the U17 World Cup could see that intensify.
With nobody outside England aware of Rigg, if he rips up the tournament, Sunderland could see interest from abroad also coming in.
However, his value could also skyrocket with top performances which likely would leave clubs too big to ignore bidding.
Whatever happens for him in this tournament, we are keen for him to get more playing time going forward.
We wish him all the best in the tournament and hope he comes back with the trophy.
